Texture at Sunset

For sunset last night, I went to Marshall Beach. That’s just outside the Golden Gate Bridge although you will see no pictures of the Bridge for now. But, if you want an outstanding place to take a picture of the Bridge, Marshall Beach would be a good choice. You might want to check the tides before you go, however. It’s always embarrassing to have to get the Coast Guard to come and get you. Check out Recent Work for some of my shots from last night.

McLaren Park

King of the Pond

McLaren Park- You will have to search for McLaren on that page.(See here for a Google map for the location.) is a San Francisco City Park. I’d say it’s hidden away on the South border of the City but maybe it was just hidden from me. This was my first visit there. It’s a large park with a fair amount of hiking, a pond that seemed be mostly for ducks and a few flowers. Hey, it’s winter, what did I expect? Check out Recent work for a few more shots.

New Gallery

Butterfly

I’ve started a new gallery entitled “Urban Nature.” The idea behind this project is to capture scenes from within the City of nature. My only real requirement thus far is the shot must be of nature – that’s not hard, I don’t do people – and the shot must have been taken within the city limits of San Francisco. This is a work in progress so the gallery will be changing as I get more shots. You can see the gallery at REZPhotography. Enjoy.

Lake Merced

Sunset at Lake Merced

Today’s sunset – actually a couple of days ago – is from Lake Merced. Lake Merced is in the far southwest corner of the City where, usually, fog abounds. Not so this evening. Nevertheless, I managed to get a few shots in without being overrun by joggers. The bridge I was standing on for part of the shoot presented an interesting challenge – every time runners ran over the bridge I had to stop shooting. Either that or have shots that bounced up and down. Makes me wonder about the bridge. Recent work has been updated with a few shots.

Well, pelican as in just one. I went out to Crissy – yes, again – last night. One pelican was in the mood to act as a model for me. This one stayed within 30 feet of me for quite a while. True, it wasn’t me it was interested in, I think it might have something to do with the fish it was catching and eating. Still, it was a great opportunity for me. You can see more at recent work. And, uncharacteristically of me, the entire recent work gallery has animate objects, birds in particular.

I put together a movie of two pelicans taking off. This is from Crissy Field the other night. There are eight pictures in the sequence; not all of them were tack sharp but, hey, I was moving a 400mm lens around to keep them in the frame. I used Lightroom and Easy HTML5 Video to build the slideshow. The music is free license from ccMixter. Check it out at Pelican Flight.
