Two Letters to the Editor in today’s Chronicle in response to the Editorial. One, from Save The Redwoods League, has some excellent points. It’s not on-line so far as I can tell but here’s some quotes: “…studies have shown that every $1 invested in the state-park system returns $2.35 to the state’s general fund.” Wish my investments had that kind of return. And, this is scary: “The governor is calling these permanent reductions.”

Get out there and DO SOMETHING! Today.

In a crisis we could be creative and generous. State parks could easily be staffed by volunteers who would be grateful to have a free place to park their RVs. Why not organize this? Same for libraries; temp volunteers can staff them until taxes can be raised.
