Purisima Creek Redwoods

The rain took a break this week so I decided to head down the San Mateo Coast. I started out thinking I’d go to Pigeon Point. The Chronicle reported whale sightings around the Lighthouse.

However, I got distracted thinking about Purisima Creek on the way and so went there instead. It was a good call. I think there was more water in the creek than I’ve seen before; at least, more than I’ve seen recently where “recently” is defined as the past five years. The small cascade in the picture is seasonal; I had never seen it before.

Most of the time there, it was overcast. I even started to wonder if it would be a good time to try black and white but, as you will see in the gallery from the shoot, I went with color. Two of the pictures in the gallery are HDR images – I’ll let you decide which ones.
