Taking a break from 2015 Favorites, I took a hike to Carson Falls in Marin. Can you say foggy? At places on the trail I could only see about 30 feet ahead…or behind. That was at the higher elevations. At the falls, at least when I first arrived, the fog had lifted somewhat. It dropped again before I left however. In the Recent Work gallery, one picture shows the trail close to the highest point.
There wasn’t as much water going over the falls as I thought there would be but it’s still a great place. The falls drops in steps – I lost count but I think there are four main drops. The picture to the right is the ‘middle’ drop. Due to some threatened critters that live around there, it’s no longer possible to get to the bottom of the falls. One picture shows the final drop but it’s obscured by trees for the most part.
And, for you photogs out there, picture number 6 in the gallery was hand-held at 1/2 second exposure time. That OIS really works.
I’d been wanting to get trees-in-fog for a while and I got it. Cool. Great day but a little on the muddy side. Check out some shots from the hike here.
