Sam McDonald County Park
I started on the large complex of San Mateo County Parks known as the Pescadero Creek Park Complex. There are three parks included in the complex: Sam McDonald, Memorial and Pescadero Creek.
I took Heritage Grove Trail back to Heritage Grove. (Tricky name, right?) This is a great trail for an easy hike. It’s a level, well marked trail and there are redwoods everywhere. I was there fairly early and had the park to myself. I definitely recommend this hike; it’s like walking meditation. Quiet and beautiful. There are other hikes in the park so it’s a multiple visit kind of place. I’d like to be there on a foggy rainy day for the redwoods in the mist shot. The new gallery of shots from the day is here. Expect a lot of redwood pictures.
One more thing: As you know, my current project is the San Mateo County Park system(and the America’s Cup). The San Mateo County Parks Foundation raises money to support San Mateo County parks. The Foundation is currently trying to raise funds via crowd funding. The San Mateo Park system is a marvelous resource and could, like all park systems, use your help. Go the the Foundation website to learn more and, contribute, if you can. The San Mateo Park system is a marvelous resource and could, like all park systems, use your help. Thanks.
[Full disclosure – I work for the Foundation as a volunteer web guy. ]
