The America’s Cup Regatta has started albeit without any real racing yet. So far the ‘races’ have been Team New Zealand blasting around the course by themselves. Nevertheless, it’s fun to watch – the boats are amazing. In today’s ‘race’ the New Zealanders hit 50mph. Now that’s moving right along. I captured a few shots of them from a long distance using a 400mm lens. You can see that the boat is hydroplaning in at least one shot. Also, notice – looking at the wake – how fast the boat turns at the mark. And it was hydroplaning the entire time. Impressive. Be even better when there’s some competition.
